Can I volunteer at any museum?
- You should only volunteer at museums that match the shifts you sign up for and are visible on your volunteer profile through the sign up on this website. You will receive a confirmation email when you sign up for your shifts with additional details.
How will I get my t-shirt?
- Your volunteer t-shirt will be at your given location when you arrive at your first shift. Please only take the shirt size that you requested when filling in your volunteer application. We only send (1) t-shirt per person for the requested size.
Do I need to watch the orientation?
- Yes, it is mandatory that all volunteers either attend or watch the recorded volunteer orientation sessions (30-minutes), as well as download and review a copy of the volunteer manual.
Do we get breaks?
- Yes! Please coordinate with the other volunteers on site to ensure that everyone gets a 30-minute break. Please work together to ensure that only one volunteer is breaking at a time to ensure coverage needed. If there is no one else volunteering with you and you need a break, please let the onsite museum contact know before leaving.
How will I know if I’m confirmed?
- You will receive an email when you sign up for your shift, consider the email your confirmation. You will also receive a reminder email and text message prior to your shift starting with additional information necessary for your shift. Please read these reminder messages carefully as some details for your shift may have changed since you signed up.
How will I know where to go?
- The reminder emails and text messages will contain key information on how to arrive, where to go, and who to contact upon your arrival. You will receive a reminder email 2-3 days before your shift and a reminder text 24-hours before your shift begins.
What if I need to cancel?
- Please be sure to let us know as soon as you know of any shift cancellations. There are only a limited number of volunteer shifts available and a lot of volunteers – we do ask that we have enough time to find a replacement so as much advance notice as possible is appreciated. Please try to avoid canceling the day of, which leaves us in a bind.
